Our Partners
The Wheelock Community Initiative works with local organizations and businesses, and regional and statewide groups. Our joint efforts help us each achieve our mission.

Since our founding in 2018, our Selectboards, Town Clerks and Treasurers have been extraordinary partners - managing our funds, providing meeting and event space, and serving as our fiscal sponsor so we can apply for small grants. Check out the town's website.
SHEFFIELD FOOD PANTRY
This local nonprofit partners with the Vermont Foodbank to distribute food to those facing food insecurity. It distributes two times/month, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, in a “shopping” approach, with clients picking items suitable for them. The service area is a 20-mile radius from Sheffield, including Wheelock, Sutton, Newark, West Burke, East Burke, Burke Hollow, Brownington, Barton, Glover and Greensboro.
With expansive views from atop a huge hill, Chandler Pond Farm is one of the most beautiful places in Wheelock. The Dill family operates a farm stand with their own products - grass fed beef, hay, veggies, flowers, pick your own strawberries and blueberries, and maple syrup - as well as other locally made treats!
A family-owned and operated Mexican food concession trailer located in East Burke VTat 44 Belden Hill Rd. next to Mike's Tiki Bar. Two Tamales has provided wonderful food and hosted events for us.
Lyndonville VT will always have a place for community to meet to share ideas and the love of books. Kim Crady-Smith of Wheelock, owner since 2007, generously provides books for WCI welcome and sympathy baskets. Visit the store on Broad St. and/or the website.
THE WHITE MARKET
This family owned grocery has served our communities for over 50 years, with two stores in Lyndonville and one in St. Johnsbury. Whites provides gift certificates for welcome baskets we provide to new full time residents.
Vermont Community Foundation was established in 1986 as a permanent source of support for the state. VCF is a family of hundreds of funds and foundations created by Vermonters to serve their charitable goals. VCF awarded us a Spark! Connecting Community grant in 2019 to help us develop economic and social opportunities and create a vibrant town.
VCRD is a private non-profit helping Vermonters and Vermont communities develop their capacity to create a prosperous and sustainable future through coordination, collaboration, and the effective use of public and private resources. We worked alongside the Town of Wheelock with VCRD on the Wheelock’s Future forums in 2020. Read the report here.
AARP VERMONT
With support from an AARP mini-grant in 2023, we conducted a walk audit along Rte. 122 in Wheelock village. The route is a busy, east-west connector between Rtes. 5, 16 and Interstate 89. No safe pathways, and traffic speeds above the posted 35 mph signs make it unsafe for walking and force residents to drive within the village. Thank you to the Town of Wheelock for serving as our fiscal sponsor. Read more.
